Investigate the effect of mass wasting

Investigate the effect of mass wasting on our streams and groundwater. Water is an important life-sustaining resource provided to us by our Creator, who describes himself as the Living Water. We could not survive without water, both physical and spiritual. The hydrologic cycle has been uniquely designed to recycle water on Earth so it is available for our use. Have you ever considered the importance of water in the scriptures? Many scripture verses refer to water and its life-giving properties. However, pollution, mass wasting, rerouting and straightening rivers and streams, and rapid removal of rain water can have serious effects upon our streams and groundwaters. Some people suggest that in the future, wars will be fought over the acquisition and availability of fresh water. (More people in the world actually have cell phones than access to a toilet.) Learning Activity #3: Current Events Exercise Read Chapters 8 and 9 in textbook. Research a current event that involved one of the processes or features described in these chapters. Submission Item: Write a 2-3 page response describing the following points. the process or feature you researched the current event involving this process or feature, including the correct citation for the source in which you found this information how human interactions are involved or affected by this process or event Ensure the following questions are addressed within the scope of the outline above. Many historical mass wasting events were described in your text. What things do they all have in common? Why was the post-Flood time ideal for changes in earth features or processes? What measures could humans take to prevent or reduce the consequences to humans for mass wasting, floods, sinkholes, or other earth features or processes? Include statistics on the availability of drinkable water throughout the world. What percent of the world population does not have access to clean drinking water? What percent of the world population lives in dry or semi-arid areas that may become even drier in the future? Ensure that you have cited and referenced at least two scholarly sources.
